DEHRADUN: As many as 16 folks have been killed and 6 significantly injured after flash-floods and landslides triggered by “heavy to very heavy rainfall” wreaked havoc in components of Uttarakhand within the intervening night time of Wednesday and Thursday.
Kedarnath valley remained fully lower off following a landslide close to Bhimbhali on the trek route, leaving practically 450 folks stranded, whereas the Kedarnath freeway was washed away between Sonprayag and Gaurikund.In consequence, the Char Dham yatra to the shrine was halted.
A press release from the chief minister’s workplace stated, “Resulting from landslides at many locations on the Kedarnath trekking route, the yatra has been stopped in the interim in view of the pilgrims’ security.” In keeping with sources, Indian Air Pressure will be a part of ongoing rescue operations at Kedarnath beginning Friday.
SDRF commandant Manikant Mishra stated, “About 425 folks stranded in Bhimbali, Rambara, Lincholi alongside Kedarnath yatra route have been airlifted. Nearly 1,100 folks stranded between Sonprayag and Bhimbali have been shifted to a safer place by way of another route.”
