Trainee Air Indiapilot among 2 grounded after rostering gaffe | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Two Air India pilots, together with a trainee, are paying for a severe oversight of the airline’s rostering division by getting grounded by Directorate Basic of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The trainee was to do supervised flying with a coaching captain however that didn’t occur resulting from a mix-up which led to the flight not being operated by the proper complement of crew, studies Saurabh Sinha.
The trainee pilot was imagined to function Mumbai-Riyadh flight on July 9, 2024, with a coaching captain. On touchdown in Riyadh, the trainee would have requested the coaching pilot to signal his SLF (supervised line flying) type. Nonetheless, the coaching captain fell unwell and rostering changed him with a standard line (not coaching) captain.
“Enroute, the 2 pilots realised this mix-up (which wasn’t their fault) by the scheduling division. The opposite pilot couldn’t have signal that type as he was not a coaching captain,” mentioned sources.
A senior DGCA official mentioned the 2 pilots have been off-rostered. The regulator is learnt to be inspecting whose oversight led to this mix-up.
