NEW DELHI: Amid rising outrage over the brutal rape and homicide of a trainee PG physician at RG Kar Medical School and Hospital in Kolkata, senior Trinamool Congress chief and Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Sekhar Ray has introduced that he’ll be part of the midnight protest to hunt justice for the sufferer and her mother and father.
Expressing shock and dismay over the incident, the MP took to ‘X’ to share his resolution to take part within the protest.
“Tomorrow, I’ll be part of the protesters as a result of I’ve a daughter and a granddaughter, like hundreds of thousands of Bengali households. Sufficient of cruelty towards girls. We should rise to the event,” Ray posted on ‘X’.
The hospital has been witnessing steady protests following the homicide of a second-year post-graduate trainee within the seminar corridor. Her physique was found with a number of accidents on Friday morning.
Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer related to the hospital, has been arrested in reference to the case.
In response to the nationwide outrage, the Calcutta excessive courtroom on Tuesday ordered the state police to switch the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The central company has since filed an FIR below related sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in New Delhi in reference to the case.
