Textiles Ministry notifies QC order for medical products

The Ministry of Textiles has notified the Medical Textiles (High quality Management) Order, 2023.

In line with an official press launch, the High quality Management Order will come into impact from October 1, 2024. This regulation establishes high quality requirements for essential medical textile merchandise, together with sanitary napkins, child diapers, reusable sanitary pads, and dental bibs.

Compliance with these requirements can be legally required. For the reason that small-scale enterprises and self assist teams will face challenges, they’re exempted from the QCO, the Ministry stated.

All merchandise falling beneath this QCO would require a Bureau of Indian Requirements (BIS) licence to fabricate, import, distribution, promote, rent, lease, retailer, or show merchandise on the market, it added.
