Severe weather disrupts operations at Mumbai airport, several flights diverted – Times of India



MUMBAI: Heavy rain and wind shear on Wednesday night affected flight operations on the Mumbai airport as two flights have been diverted whereas seven flights aborted touchdown and climbed for a second try at contact down.
Air India flight AI-656 departed Rajkot at 6.15 pm and was scheduled to land in Mumbai and hour later, however heavy rains pressured the plane to divert to Ahmedabad.IndiGo flight from Bangkok to Mumbai 6E1052 diverted to Ahmedabad at 8.04 pm on account of wind shear- sudden change in velocity and path of the wind. By 8.15 pm, seven flights that had are available in to land has carried out a go-around due to climate situations, stated an airport official.
Flight operations have been delayed by a median of half-hour.
