DIMPAUR: A seer and his Gau Dhwaj Sthapana Bharat Yatra entourage have been stopped Thursday from getting into Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland following fears of attainable public unrest and protests towards his marketing campaign advocating a ban on cow slaughter throughout the northeastern states.

Dimapur police commissioner Kevithuto Sophie cited state govt’s directive dated Sept 12. “There have been considerations about potential disturbances to public order because of the yatra. Prohibition can be strengthened by provisions of Article 371(A) of the Structure, which gives particular safeguards to Nagaland, notably on issues associated to non secular and social practices,” Sophie mentioned.
Earlier within the day, Naga College students’ Federation opposed the yatra in Kohima, warning of protests.
