Rift erupts in J&K unit of BJP as party flip-flops over candidate list | India News – Times of India



NEW DELHI: Protests erupted outdoors the Jammu and Kashmir BJP workplace on Monday after the social gathering introduced a listing of 15 candidates for the primary section of the Jammu and Kashmir meeting polls.
Earlier, the social gathering had launched an inventory of 44 candidates for the upcoming polls within the Union Territory, solely to withdraw it hours later. BJP’s contemporary listing consists of names of the candidates for less than the primary section.

The preliminary listing included candidates comparable to Syed Wazahat, Gajay Singh Rana, and Javed Ahmad Qadri, who got tickets to contest from Anantnag, Doda, and Shopian constituencies, respectively. Different candidates included Syed Showkat Gayoor Andrabi from Pampore, Arshid Bhat from Rajpora, Mohd. Rafiq Wani from Anantnag West, and Sushri Shagun Parihar from Kishtwar.
The meeting elections in J&Ok are set to happen in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1. Candidates have till August 27 to file their nomination papers for the primary section. The vote counting will probably be performed on October 4.
The Congress social gathering has joined forces with Farooq Abdullah’s Nationwide Convention for the meeting elections, and Mehbooba Mufti’s PDP has pledged its help to the alliance. The BJP, alternatively, has chosen to contest the elections independently. Within the earlier meeting elections held in 2014, the BJP managed to safe 25 seats.
