NEW DELHI: Sikkim MP Dorjee Tshering Lepcha on Tuesday requested the central authorities to rethink the time period ‘China border‘ and as a substitute use ‘Tibet border.’
Talking within the Rajya Sabha, Lepcha argued that the 1,400-kilometer stretch from Leh, Ladakh, and Arunachal Pradesh to Sikkim extra precisely borders Tibet reasonably than China. He urged the Indian authorities and navy companies, together with the Indian Military and the Border Roads Group (BRO), to formally recognise this distinction.
“This isn’t the China border.That is the Tibet border,” Lepcha mentioned.

Lepcha highlighted that there’s a disparity in growth alongside the border areas. He identified that whereas China has constructed villages and infrastructure on its aspect, the Indian aspect primarily consists of reserved forests and wildlife sanctuaries with restricted entry.
“Close to the border areas, China has constructed villages, whereas India has used them for reserved forests and wildlife sanctuaries, and has restricted entry,” Lepcha mentioned.
He urged the central authorities to conduct a complete evaluation and take motion to deal with these developmental disparities.
Moreover, Lepcha known as on the Centre to think about reopening the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route through Nathula, which has been closed for a while.
He requested the Centre to difficulty a directive to its companies to formally rename the border because the “Tibet border.”
