NEW DELHI: Himachal Pradesh meeting on Wednesday handed a invoice to revoke the pension advantage of these state legislators who’ve been disqualified underneath the anti-defection regulation.
The Himachal Pradesh Legislative Meeting (Allowances and Pension of Members) Modification Invoice, 2024 was handed after dialogue within the Home.
In line with the invoice, “An individual shall not be entitled for pension underneath the Act, if he has been disqualified at any level of time underneath the tenth schedule of the Structure (anti-defecation regulation)”.
“They wish to acquire political advantages by such corrupt practices. This Invoice was important to be launched to strengthen democracy. Our meeting handed it immediately by voice vote,” Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu informed information company ANI after the invoice was handed.
The assertion of object and causes of the proposed modification says the invoice was wanted as there was no provision within the 1971 Act to discourage the defection of members, deter them from committing constitutional sins, defend the mandate given by individuals and protect democratic values, reported information company PTI.
Earlier on February 29, meeting speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania had underneath the anti-defection regulation disqualified six Congress MLAs who had cross-voted for the BJP within the Rajya Sabha elections.
The Congress authorities within the state needed to grapple with a disaster as its power had decreased to 34 legislators.
These included Rajinder Singh Rana, Sudhir Sharma, Chaitanya Sharma, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Davinder Bhutto and Ravi Thakur. However later within the Vidhan Sabha bypoll, the ruling Congress’s power once more reached to 40 within the Home in opposition to the 28 Opposition BJP legislators.
