NIT-Trichy erupts over warden’s dress remark | India News – Times of India

TRICHY: The NIT-Trichy campus erupted Friday over a hostel warden blaming a lady scholar’s apparel for a contractual employee allegedly flashing her when she was alone in her room the day prior to this, resulting in his arrest.
Tons of of scholars protested the warden’s comment and demanded higher safety on campus, forcing the Tamil Nadu institute to get the warden to apologise for her “insensitive” conduct.
The arrested suspect, 38-year-old G Kathiresan from Mudhukulathur in Ramanathapuram, was within the women’ hostel to repair a WiFi connection when he allegedly focused the coed. Primarily based on her criticism, a case was registered on the Thiruverumbur ladies’s police station in opposition to the employee.
The complainant had first approached the hostel authorities, just for the warden to allegedly say that she probably attracted the offender’s consideration together with her outfit.
As college students continued their protest since early Friday, SP Varun Kumar visited the campus and guaranteed the protesters that the institute can be instructed to rectify security lapses. District collector M Pradeep Kumar stated the NIT administration agreed to make the required adjustments.
NIT-T director G Aghila instructed TOI that the warden accused of criticising the sufferer apologised to the scholars.
