NAGPUR: Maharashtra’s deputy CM and finance minister, Ajit Pawar, on Saturday defended Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana that may present Rs 1,500 to eligible girls aged 21-60, rejecting the opposition‘s criticism of it as a populist transfer.

Former dwelling minister Anil Deshmukh criticised the initiatives as mere freebies. He advised TOI, “That is nothing however a determined try to woo voters. Mark my phrases, if Mahayuti involves energy, these schemes will vanish in three months. Even state finance division raised pink flags on pointless expenditure.”
Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe stated, “Within the period of skyrocketing inflation, what’s going to girls do with a mere Rs 1,500. That is simply one other hole promise from BJP.”
BJP spokesperson Girish Vyas defended the schemes. “Ladki Bahin has been a game-changer in Madhya Pradesh. Girls affectionately name Shivraj Singh Chouhan ‘Mama’ for his efforts. We’re assured it should revolutionise Maharashtra’s political panorama too. The opposition is making a false narrative, identical to they did earlier than the Lok Sabha polls.”

The approaching months will inform if Mahayuti’s freebie gambit pays off or if voters see by means of the pre-election largesse,” they stated.
