KOLKATA: Campus revolts rocked some Bengal medical faculties on Wednesday, forcing the elimination of 1 principal and switch of a senior physician over allegations of their hyperlinks to arrested RG Kar Hospital‘s ex-principal Sandip Ghosh.
North Bengal Medical School and Hospital in Siliguri and School of Medication and JNM Hospital (CMJNMH) in Kalyani bore the brunt of the protests.Ghosh is allegedly a part of the notorious “North Bengal foyer” – referring to influential alumni of North Bengal Medical School – that’s blamed for a lot of ills plaguing the state’s healthcare system.
In North Bengal Medical School, college students, junior docs and academics referred to as for the resignation of dean of scholars’ affairs, Sandip Sengupta, for alleged involvement in manipulation and unauthorised involvement in examinations, and nurturing a risk tradition with the involvement of some Trinamool Chhatra Parishad members.

The protesters alleged the dean was engaged on the directions of Avik Dey, a post-graduate trainee of SSKM Hospital.
