UDUPI: In a surprising act of animal cruelty, a person in Shirva is accused of dragging a canine over greater than 6 km by tying it behind his scooter.
The incident occurred on the street in entrance of the Shirva gram panchayat constructing on Saturday. Manjula Karkera, a member of Prani Daya Sangha, reported the incident after receiving a video on WhatsApp at round 9.47am.The video confirmed a canine being tied to a scooter and dragged from St Mary’s Junction in the direction of Manchakal.
She described the incident as an inhumane act supposed to hurt and deform the canine. He most likely dragged the canine until it died, she stated. Upon investigation, the accused was recognized as Abdul Khader from Kombugudde. He was seen driving with out a helmet.
A case has been registered underneath BNS Part 325 (mischief by killing or maiming animal, which entails incarceration, or tremendous, or each) and provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
