MEERUT: A 19-year-old kanwariya was killed and practically half a dozen injured throughout a conflict between two teams of ‘dak kanwariyas’ (fast-moving devotees) alongside a route in Baghpat district of UP. Police mentioned the combat occurred when the teams tried to win a race in reaching their village temple in Haryana first to supply holy water to Lord Shiva. Locals mentioned round 20 males from each side attacked one another with bricks, sticks and sharp objects round 11.30am on Friday.Through the conflict, Vansh Kumar from Aterna village in Sonipat was stabbed with a knife in his decrease again, and he died quickly after.
SP (Baghpat), Arpit Vijayvargiya, advised TOI on Monday, “The person died as a result of extreme blood loss. He was a part of a gaggle of devotees from Haryana. CCTV footage and movies are being scanned and a few concerned from Haryana have been recognized. We’ll arrest them quickly.”
Raj Kumar, 30, an eyewitness, mentioned the combat was fierce.
He added: “Whereas operating with holy water on the street, an argument broke out and two teams attacked one another with sticks, bricks and knives. The injured had been moved to a group well being centre in Binauli.”
