NEW DELHI: India imported round 18.6 lakh tonne urea price $730 million (Rs 6,127 crore) from China throughout 2023-24. One other 22.6 lakh tonne phosphatic and potassic (P&Okay) fertilisers was imported from China, the govt. knowledgeable Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. The information submitted to the Higher Home talked about that India imported 70.4 lakh tonne urea in 2023-24 for $2.6 billion (Rs 21,827 crore). Equally, 106.5 lakh tonne P&Okay fertilisers was imported over the past monetary 12 months. The ministry stated that worth of imported P&Okay fertilisers shouldn’t be maintained within the division.
“As far as P&Okay fertilisers are involved, these grades of fertilisers are lined below Open Common Licence (OGL) below the Nutrient Primarily based Subsidy Scheme (NBS). They’re imported by the businesses on their commercially viable phrases,” Patel stated. The minister stated that so as to attain self-sufficiency in urea within the nation, govt mandated revival of Ramagundam (Telangana), Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Sindri (Jharkhand) and Talcher (Odisha) models of Fertiliser Company of India and Barauni (Bihar) unit of Hindustan Fertiliser Company via Joint Enterprise Firm of nominated PSUs for establishing new ammonia-urea vegetation of 12.7 lakh tonne per annul capability every.
