NEW DELHI: The Cupboard Committee on Safety on Monday permitted the proposal for procurement of 240 aero-engines (AL-31FP) for Su-30 MKI plane of the Indian Air Power (IAF) below Purchase (Indian) class from Hindustan Aeronautics Restricted (HAL) at a value of over Rs 26,000 crore.
The supply of those aero-engines will begin after one 12 months and full over a interval of eight years.
The engines can have indigenous content material over 54%, enhanced resulting from indigenisation of some key elements of aero-engines. These can be manufactured at Koraput division of HAL, learn a press release by the ministry of defence.
Su-30 MKI is without doubt one of the strongest and strategically-significant fleet of IAF.
