BJP demands Rahul’s penance for Nehru’s ‘insult’ to Shivaji – Times of India



PUNE: BJP‘s Maharashtra unit on Tuesday demanded that Congress and its chief Rahul Gandhi ‘do penance’ for Jawaharlal Nehru‘s assertion “insulting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj”.
“Rahul Gandhi ought to come to Maharashtra and apologise for Jawaharlal Nehru’s assertion that insulted Shivaji Maharaj by calling him a misguided patriot and a treacherous plunderer,” the social gathering’s chief spokesperson Keshav Upadhye mentioned at a press convention right here.
On Monday, Sena (UBT) spokesperson Sanjay Raut had identified that Nehru had apologised for the remarks he had made in his e book ‘Discovery of India’, that he had written whereas being in jail.
Raut added that Nehru had mentioned that he had made the error as he lacked the reference for his e book as a result of his incarceration.
Upadhye mentioned Congress, NCP (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar and Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray had been creating unrest within the state by politicising the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj after a mishap that broken his statue.
Upadhye urged political leaders to respect Shivaji’s legacy and cease exploiting his identify for political good points which he claimed has led to social unrest within the state.
