Odisha puts dead official on PM trip duty, then rescinds – Times of India



BHUBANESWAR: In a serious slip-up, Odisha govt on Friday assigned a deceased officer to handle the gang at Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s go to to Bhubaneswar on Sept 17. After the goof-up attracted criticism on social media, the state govt corrected the order on Saturday.
The unique order included Prabodha Kumar Rout, an Odisha Administrative Service officer who handed away in July 2023, amongst these tasked with crowd administration at Janata Maidan for the launch of Subhadra Yojana, a money incentive scheme for girls, on PM Modi’s birthday.
Biju Janata Dal social media cell head Swayam Prakash Mohapatra remarked, “A really unusual state of affairs underneath an odd regime.”
The state governmetn changed Rout’s title with Subrat Kumar Jena, a land officer at Industrial Infrastructure Growth Company. Chief secretary Manoj Ahuja confirmed, “The title has been modified.”
