Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud on July 15 agreed to think about itemizing a plea by Vodafone-Thought to appropriate alleged errors in the computation of Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues.

Senior advocate Harish Salve, showing for the telecom service supplier (TSP), orally talked about the plea earlier than the Chief Justice.

A healing petition towards the dismissal of earlier pleas in search of correction of alleged errors in AGR-related dues is but to be listed earlier than a Bench, the TSP stated.

In July 2021, the apex courtroom, in an order, had stated what TSPs actually needed, below the guise of correcting “arithmetical errors”, was a recalculation of their AGR operating into crores of rupees.

The courtroom had on the time stated that functions filed by the telecom majors to “appropriate” mathematical errors, which at “first blush” look “innocuous”, was a roundabout approach to recompute their AGR money owed — a path expressly forbidden by the Supreme Courtroom in an earlier order.

In a September 2020 judgment, the apex courtroom had ordered the TSPs to pay annual 10% instalments from April 1, 2021 as much as March 31, 2031.
