PETRAPOLE: Three jailbreaks in three days not removed from the Indian border and 0 policing on the streets of Bangladesh have put Indian safety businesses on alert in Bengal for attainable infiltration bids.
Whereas Border Safety Power (BSF) is holding village coordination conferences alongside the border to sensitise villagers on suspicious actions, Bengal police have instructed village-level border vigilante teams to be careful for outsiders who may attempt to sneak in.
On Tuesday, greater than 200 inmates escaped from Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur close to Dhaka. The central jail, sources stated, housed a number of Jamaat-e-Islami members who have been arrested over the previous few years. On Wednesday, practically 30 inmates escaped from a jail in Kushtia after attacking the guards. On Monday night, the day Sheikh Hasina fled the nation, nearly 500 prisoners escaped from Sherpur District Jail.
Alarmed over the developments, BSF personnel held back-to-back village coordination conferences at Mamabhagina and Sutiya areas of North 24 Parganas on Wednesday.
